German Reading Room
The German reading room was opened in Novosibirsk in April 1993 on the initiative of the Goethe Institute. The German reading room holdings contain various media - books, periodicals and newspapers , CDs, DVDs, electronic resources - providing patrons with relevant information on Germany. The German reading room offers a vast and comprehensive collection of contemporary German literature, reference works in all subject areas, general and introductory works, particularly on the topics of society, politics, law, economy, culture, art, and 20th century history, etc. In 1997 the Teachers' Resource Centre, another project of the Goethe Institute, was incorporated within the German reading room. It provides German teachers and the German language learners with a selection of teaching and learning materials. The German reading room as a partner of the Goethe Institute participates in its projects and organizes miscellaneous events such as meetings with contemporary German authors, touring book exhibitions, and many others. You can borrow books and media for 2 weeks. The loan period can be prolonged for another 2 weeks. Use the library general catalogue to search for materials.
